Real Madrid-Delhi Dynamos Partnership Rumoured
|ISL side Delhi Dynamos may be set to secure one of the biggest wins of the newly formed Indian Super League, with rumours of an upcoming Real Madrid-Delhi Dynamos partnership with the La Liga giants.
The deal puts at risk the existing partnership between Delhi Dynamos and Dutch side Feyenoord Rotterdam, with tensions said to be overflowing between 2014 marquee Alessandro del Piero and coach Harm van Veldhoven
A Real Madrid-Delhi Dynamos partnership would arguably surpass the existing ownership in Atlético de Kolkata by fierce Real’s rivals Atlético Madrid. The original deal signed prior to the 2014 season saw a partnership between Atlético Madrid, Sourav Ganguly, Harshavardhan Neotia, Sanjiv Goenka and Utsav Parekh. Along with adopting the same kit colour scheme as Atlético, the deal no doubt helped in recruiting former UEFA Champions League winner and Atlético Madrid star Luis García to Kolkata.
Like Atlético de Kolkata’s deal, a partnership with Real Madrid may see Delhi Dynamos players travelling to the Santiago Bernabeu to train and use Real Madrid club facilities. Dynamos fans will also be anticipating exciting player and managerial staff exchanges.
Other rumours suggest other La Liga sides may be interested in a joint-deal with Real Madrid in partnering with Delhi Dynamos, including Villareal or Valencia.
Despite signing Italian superstars Alessandro Del Piero for the inaugural season, Delhi Dynamos finished fifth after the regular season and failed to quality for the finals playoffs. Should a Real Madrid-Delhi Dynamos partnership come to fruition, there is no doubt fans and management alike will be demanding an inaugural finals berth for the side.
Real Madrid likewise will be disappointed with the season past, having lost their UEFA Champions League semi-final meet with Juventus 2-3 on aggregate, and finished in 2nd behind rivals Barcelona in the 2014–15 La Liga season.
